Picture a garden hose that is pulled tight and has a
kink in it. That kink is your pain. The pain is causing a blockage in
the free flow of blood throughout the body. Acupuncture straightens out
the hose to release the kink, which increases circulation and
eliminates pain.
Pretend you have potted plants in your house and you go
away for two weeks. No one comes in to water the plants so when you
return home you find your plants withered and wilted. Your internal
organs are like those plants.
Say you have acid reflux. When the
stomach is healthy and functioning properly it takes food and drink and
moves it in a downward motion toward the small intestine. When it is
under stress from physical or emotional causes it begins to break down
and lose its function. Instead of going down it goes up. Acupuncture
acts like water and fertilizer, increasing circulation and bringing
much needed nutrients and oxygen to the organ helping it to function
properly and return to a downward motion, relieving the acid reflux.
The Chinese long ago discovered a link between the physical body and the emotions. Each organ has an emotion associated with it. When there is too much of one emotion it causes the organ to malfunction. We use acupuncture to treat the organ to function normally and as we do, the emotion levels out.
